Need background information / history of HAPI Magnum 2.2L VW engine

the engine came on an airplane I bought and there's some talk of the engine having been given too much displacement for the crank , and some of the engines in this series broke cranks.

What crank do I need ?

Supposedly this engine is NOS, pickled when new and never run at all.
