I have not been to the Airventure since I was a kid so I don't remember everything. What I am looking for advice on is, besides right on the runway line, where is the next best place to sit and watch the afternoon air show. Also, is it acceptable to place chairs in spots in the morning and then come back to them in the afternoon?
Back in the day it was frowned upon to claim spots by leaving chairs (and still might be), but people do it and I don't think anybody worries about it. The closer to show center you are the more crowded it will be. Although these days we rarely go and watch any of the airshows, but on the rare occasion we do we typically sit down by Homebuilt Registration as its less crowded and the view is just as good. There's also more trees between there and the Brown Arch so more opportunity for shade if you so desire.
