EAA Membership

I've been a member since the early 80's. So today I get a notice in my mail that my membership is "now due". What? I pay every year. Well, closer examination shows I didn't sign up for War Birds and Vintage. As one who has always paid my bills and due on time I resent getting mail like this. This is very poor public relations. Especially for long term members. By the way at age 80 they could probably stop sending me "Lift Time Member" offers too. Rant over!!

I've been a memeber for awhile, and appreciate the reminders...even though I think I have it set for auto renewal.

I do wish they'd have a three or five year membership offer.

And a pro-rated lifetime membership price offer based on age.

I'm 25 years your junior, and it still doesn't make financial sense to buy it.

Thanks Sam. I realize there is probably a member marketing program and it could be contracted out for all I know. I'll always keep my basic membership up.

LOL (kinda) I'm 70 and sadly know how much less a 'lifetime supply' of most anything now costs. I buy short term supplies these days - lol

I like not having to throw away a plastic card every year. The stickers are a good solution.

As for the lifetime membership, the age has no bearing. It's for people who don't need money or can't do math. Take the 1300 and stick it in an index fund, it will more than pay your yearly dues plus inflation and at the end you still have the 1300.

Interesting note on lifetime memberships, in order to encourage young people to join, one of our local yacht clubs has an initiation fee equal to the yearly membership fee times your age over 18. Join at 18, no initiation fee. Join at 50 and it's over $60 000.
