I figure instead of complaining about the economy or what I don't like about SA magazine, I would post a positive message about GA. How about everyone post a video they like about Aviation.

Check out this video, a aviation fun day in small town Montana. This may appeal to some Sport Aviation fans, but beware there is no TBM's or instrument approaches.

Here's a video that a friend of mine put together for my birthday a couple of years ago. It was shot about a year prior, on one of my visits to my home-away-from-home in Guelph, ON. I got to give my wife and my dad (himself a lifelong pilot) their first Tiger Moth rides, and they were my first passengers in the type. It was one of my absolute best days of flying since getting my Private a bit over 20 years earlier:

Thanks for posting Jeff. For me, arguably the most magnificent visual expression of what it means to fly that I have ever seen. Just blew me away! Replacing the current soundtrack with Pink Floyd's "Clouds" would make it perfect. Wow!, just awe inspiring.

Hi Jeff - I just edited your post so your (fantastic!) video is now embedded. Any time you want to embed one, just click the "insert video" button (that, anachronistically, looks like a couple of frames of film) on the toolbar. Paste the web address of the video into the box, and the forum software will do the rest. (Presuming it's from a supported video source - YouTube, Hulu, Vimeo, among a few others.)

I also recommending pasting the plain link into your message a second time on its own, as some browsers / devices (IOS in particular) can't view the videos if they are embedded.

My wife shot and I condensed about 30 minutes of raw footage to put together this 5 minute Flip video at my sleepy semi-private airport on a fine September day. She had her hands full trying to restrain Bubba our rambunctious Beagle in one hand and operating the camera with the other. All things considered, I think she did a pretty fair job.

I've made a lot of videos over the years...aerobatics (spins, botched hammers, etc.), life at the farm with the airplane, grass strips we've flown to, rides I've given...stuff like that. My favorite is photos of kids my husband, our friends, and I have taken flying over the years. We take a lot of Young Eagles flying every year. Love those smiles. :)

I am in Lethbridge now, so your video has me thinking about going back home to Saskatchewan. Thanks for the nice comment Joe. Your name is familiar to me from correspondance with various Chapter 154 I guess, though I 'thought' I remembered a Joe Harrigton from previous years, then from Saskatoon I believe. It was a LONG time ago though so it may well have been someone else. In any case, enjoy your project....that's a fun process too....and when you eventually fly it 'home' you'll be one proud dude, as you should be. Mine was an amazing experience and I am sure yours will be too. Happy flying and keep the dream alive.

Have you seen how some of the recent aviation shows make ordinary flying look so dramatic? We'll here's my two hour attempt of making an ordinary flight as a passenger appear much more interesting than it actually was (yes, the flight was fun and I'll jump at the next chance to go, but it was not nearly as dramatic as your about to see). The power of editing...

Since we're talking video, and I am a 'video guy', I thought I'd chime in here. In 2009 I was selected to be a Ford "Fiesta Agent". Basically, Ford gave me (and 100 other people) one of their new Fiestas to drive for six months and in return I made monthly videos for them based on 'missions' they sent me on. When "Adventure Month" showed up I jumped at the chance to get into the air. I'd been gazing skyward since I was a kid, but never really had had the chance to do anything about the desire to fly.

There isn't as much pure flying in this video as the other videos posted here - but I think you'll still enjoy it. You're about to see my first taste of acro and..... well let's just say I'm a little embarrassed with how things turned out. That said, I'm currently taking lessons towards a private certificate in a J3 Cub so it couldn't have scarred me too badly!

If you're interested in seeing what the full "dogfight" experience with Air Combat is like you can watch it here: http://youtu.be/bet1sV9f1Do
I wish I would have had a logbook at the time - some of the pilots are CFIs and you can log the time.

Love all the videos everyone else has posted thus far! I definitely lost an hour or so earlier today watching all of them!

On my way to Oshkosh two years ago, I got into weather and had to put my Mooney down in a corn field.
Well, it was actually the airport at Seneca, Kansas (62K) but it was nothing more than a patch of grass surrounded by corn. And a wet patch of grass at that!

After weather cleared, it was pretty neat to yank the gear up and zip right over top the corn.

Thanks for watching Bryce and Zaitcev! I'm a big fan of Cubonaut's video (and all of the videos on this forum) too.

I'm most impressed by the part of Ryan's video that's taken in a formation flight.

Thanks - as you can imagine, having really experienced pilots helps a ton to get shots like that. We were operating out of a less than traditional camera plane (Super Cub), so it was a little difficult to get some of the shots. As the camera operator I was shooting backwards past me out the open door while looking into a monitor - so all of my lateral camera inputs were reversed. I imagine it's somewhat similar to flying inverted relative to the horizon. I used some in camera stabilization, but there was no room (or budget ) for a big fancy stabilizing gimbal.

In case any of you had thoughts of improving your skills or airplane performance, you would be hard to find a better venue than Sport Air Racing League. there is a class for most everything.

Here's a video of the start at Big Sky Air Race 2013.

Had the privilege of filming another video for CubAir recently - this one at one of their Young Eagles rallies for the local Boy Scout Pack:

BTW - Having recently flown my first Young Eagle I must say that if you've never done it... YOU NEED TO DO IT. Very rewarding. I'm pretty sure I got a bigger kick out of it than he did and he called the flight, "Awesome" and "Flightalicious." Pretty high praise from a teenager.

Here's my video showing what GA is to me. A Sunday morning pancake breakfast run to Boscobel, Wis. (KOVS) in the Wisconsin River valley. Camera was mounted on the left landing gear strut of a Cessna 172.

So I had the extreme luck of filming another flying video - you might have seen Sarah Wilson's Jimmy Allen Speedmail at Oshkosh last year and in Sport Aviation - I was lucky enough to work with Sarah to produce her "Biplane Valentine" this year. For your viewing enjoyment:

By the way - after filming that day I'm convinced that every pilot needs an open cockpit biplane in their hangar. Wow.

I agree. The open air and various smells is pure excitement.

Doug…
Those are AWESOME videos. One thing I'm jealous of (in addition to the Skybolt) is all of the great terrain you've got nearby. There's nothing like low and slow over the cornfields of Wisconsin, but sometimes I just long for a mountain or two.

Thanks guys. Lots of great videos on this thread! These keep me going during the winter!

This is the Cascade Mountains about 40 miles east of Seattle, close to Snoqualmie Pass. I fly out of Fall City and the mountains are about 5 minutes away. Great place to fly!

Anyone having trouble with prop blur? I tried setting my GoPro FPS (frames per second) to 48 and it seemed to help. Check it out:
