My EAA chapter purchased a Loehle 5151 project and we are in the process of redoing it. We are going to take the fabric off of the wings and I was wondering if there was a proper way to do this. I am not sure what type of fabric was used.

Try to save the top and bottoms as one piece so you can use it as a pattern to know where you need to put inspection holes in the new cover. Personally, I would split it at the trailing edge and start peeling and cutting rib stitching or removing fasteners as needed while you peel the fabric forward. When you are all done, you'll have some very nice wall hangings for the hangar. :)

If it is stitched, cut the stitches, split the fabric at the trailing edge, and voila, off it comes. Except for the glue. There's always glue.

Generally, you can peel the fabric away where it is glued.
