Cutting into a Glasair Fuselage

I have a glasair 1 TD and want to put an inspection panel at the rear of the fuselage for access to the tailwheel hardware inside the fuselage at the rear ........ is this structurally safe to do ?? if so, what would be the maximum safe dimensions.
