I share with you some photos of a Boeing B-17 bomber with an exotic and unusual camouflage. Does anyone know if this plane entered service and what the function of this painting? I count on your visit.

Try this website: ww2aircraft.net (http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/aircraft-pictures/story-17-a-19761.html) where they explain that it's an "assembly bird," that is, one for the giant formations (hundreds of aircraft) to form up on, being easy to spot.

Otherwise known as a Judas Goat -- leading lambs to the slaughter, as it were. After the planes formed up, it would return to base.
