I need to source an 80 to 100 amp hour deep cycle battery upon my arrival at OSH. I'm camping this year and need the battery to power my CPAP at night. I'm carrying 20 lbs of solar charging equipment in my Mooney, but don't have any additional payload to lug a 66 lb battery 1400nm. Any leads on borrowing/renting/buying a suitable marine/tractor battery (new/used; inside or outside the fence) appreciated.

FlyTester - no affiliation, and no personal experience, but there is a store called Batteries Plus just north of the field on 20th street:

If you can get to a car, there is a Farm and Fleet a couple miles north of the field. I just bought a new deep cycle for my camper there, price $79 or so. You can probably sell it to a local after the show and recoup some of the cost.

FWIW- one of my camping neighbors has used a 12V CPAP/ solar charger setup for years at Oshkosh and reports that it works great and never runs out of juice.

Somnetics has a CPAP machine with an at least 2 night battery. 10-15 hours per charge depending on pressures and leaks. It is one of the smallest CPAP devices I know of. With average CPAP use of 5 hours for most folks the battery should last for a night if not two. You could then charge it at the tiedown shack in the north 40 or Redbarn. Talk to your DME (durable medical equipment supplyer NOT Designated aeroMedical Examiner) or sleep doc.

I use an jnc660 portable jump box. available on the web at a lot of places. I get about 3 nights on a charge. you will also need a 12v cable for your CPAP. CPAP.com should be a good source. I have also seen a lithium battery that powers a unit but I do not know how long they last. My machine is a respironics which when you push a lever it separates. You should not need a humidifier up there.
