Bummer! I was hoping to see it do a few flybys on opening day. But it would be a task trying to move it around on the ground. Those wingtips droop pretty low when sitting still.

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the need to remove 6,000 feet of runway lights for this bird, though I've seen many of these up close and personal in Da Nang and know first hand how low those wings hang.

At first I thought He said "6000 runway lights".
Instead of 6,000 feet of runway lights.

Yup, I remember when K.I. Sawyer airbase was still open, we would go up there for their open house every year. You could reach up and touch the wingtips when it's on the ground.

Has anybody been given any further clarification as to what time today the B-52 will be landing?

Which runway will it be using?

Quite certain it will be using 36/18 depending on wind direction. But, just in case, I'm listening to LiveATC north and south towers, as well as watching the webcams.

Edit: Couple of low passes then full stop with parachute. Touchdown about 11:52 a.m. A thing of beauty.
