Hi everybody,
It's gonna be my first time to Oshkosh, and I planned to stay 3 days at camp Scholler.
I'm coming from far away (Caribbean), so my question is :
What's the best way to rent a camping package (tent, sleeping bags, cooler...) for 3 persons and 3 days ?
Thanks.

I wasn't aware that camping equipment (other than large campers) could be rented, but a little Google searching and I found this company that rents camping equipment and ships it to your location. You could possibly rent from them and have the gear shipped to Oshkosh for pickup.

Looking at their prices, you will be better off going to WalMart when you arrive. Buy a cheap tent, sleeping bag and air matress or cot. A cheap grill and cheap styrofoam cooler for a bit of campsite grilling.

OR.... You could order everything on-line at WalMart and have it ready for pickup at the Oshkosh store when you arrive. (Saves the aggravation of not having an item on the shelf).

During the week there are buses that run from the campground to WalMart if you don't have a car or buddy. OR if you choose to buy at WalMart, PM me and we can exchange cell phone numbers before the show. Will be happy to get you there.

Personally, I wouldn't get a Walmart tent. See the other thread on tenting.

One from WalMart would be fine as I was assuming, it would be left behind. Shipping it back home, the Caribbean, most likely would be more expensive than the initial or replacement cost of the tent and other necessities.

My cheapo walmart tent lasted through two Oshkoshes before it shredded. I guess you can take it to Goodwill after the show and just get another one. It was under $100.

Thanks for the walmart suggestion. I'll have a look on their website. Better than renting, I'm willing to buy my own equipment and give it to someone after the show.
I thought there was a kind of tent renting service provided in Oshkosh airport.
See you soon.

My objection to cheapy tents, whether from Walmart or elsewhere, is that in a big blow, they're not reliable. Nothing much worse, I think, than finding your campsite torn apart and all of your belongings soaking wet.

If you are O.K. With some legwork, Craigslist is loaded with tents.

If interested.. I offered my top of the line Eureka tent in the forums last year and will drop the price to 220.00 plus shipping.
