Mine has been on it's last legs for years. As my avionics tech told me two years ago, the second digit has a tendency to transmit "7" and the problem is now becoming chronic and embarrassing. Cycling the knob no longer works. I'm seeing lots of used units on eBay for about $400.
Is it OK for me to swap out my existing with a serviceable used one? Do I have to any FAA paperwork? I want to make due with Mode C for as long as I can (five more years or so) and then maybe later on switch to an ADS-B Out solution.
Anybody have a good KT76A they want to sell?
