Avid Flyer used a length of spar tube mounted vertically behind seat, with discs of flat stock welded to close the ends, three fittings threaded into top (vent + one line from each wing) and two into bottom (quickdrain and outlet). Cheap, durable, effective. Make it difficult if you want.

Or shop ebay for "aluminum surge tank" only need a couple quarts capacity to provide a steady feed to the fuel pump. $40 to $50 including shipping.
