Help me identify this part

Came out of an old Nesmith Cougar and appears to be some sort of regulator, but I have no idea what for, or if that's what it really is.

My guess would be some sort of fuel shutoff. Are there any part numbers on it ???.

That part is a needle valve vacuum regulator for an air driven turn and bank instrument that is plumbed to an external venturi. 1940's and 1950's airplanes had external venturi's to "power" vacuum instruments before engine driven vacuum pumps were common.

It's a water pressure regulator from a drinking fountain.

We used to turn the pressure up on those all the time in school so when kids would lean over to get a drink , it was like the proverbial drinking from a fire hose.

I think Marty nailed it. It's a pressure regulator. While Kohler did build some small engines the part is almost certainly a plumbing part. Old aircraft (even certificated ones) often used random parts like that.

Yeah, once Wes told me what it was used for, I found some diagrams of venturi powered gauges, and there is a pressure-reducing needle valve in the system, but nothing specific on what type or part numbers. I also have a Grayson branded one, looks identical. At least I think it says Grayson...could be Crayson, but hard to tell. Either way, it's good to finally know what it was used for...I've been stumped for a long time on this one.
