Folks, I have about 35 bd-ft of Sitka spruce from an aircraft project my father started in 1967, but never finished. The boards are surfaced two side (S2S), predominately quarter-sawn (biggest angle of the grain is 45 degrees) and very tight growth rings (15 - 32 rings/inch). The lumber has been stored in a garage (no heat or A/C), but dry and off the floor, since he abandoned the project in the early 70s. I have 14 pcs, 4'8" to 11' 2" long and 1 7/8" to 6" wide. Most are 5/8" to 7/8" thick with a couple 3/8" thick. Let me know if this might be of use to a builder. It may be of more value to guitar makers or boat builders.

I also saved a supply of 3/32 mahogany veneer aircraft grade plywood, 12 sheets 4' by 8'. Two sheets of 1/4", and five 4' by 8' sheets of 1/16" mahogany veneer. I think I saw Aircraft Spruce sell similar plywood for $180 or so per sheet. The stamps on the plywood date it to 1965 - 1967. One sheet has the grain at 45 degree angle to the long edge. Would $125 per sheet be reasonable? It's ok if this doesn't sell, as I may decide to build a boat.

The wood is in southwestern Ohio, and would be available for pickup if we can agree on price.

Thanks,

Steve

I am interested in 3/4 or 7/8 thick boards to build boat paddles. I can use short pieces at least 4 ft. in length. In 3/4 thickness I would need two boards 5" or wider 4' long. I realize this is not much of your supply, but I can put it to good use. I would need it shipped to Raleigh NC. I have shipped lumber by UPS before, and no problem for 8 foot lengths was experienced. All, the veneer and one sheet of 45 degree plywood has sold.

In going through the stack again. I found the 1/4" sheets were really two 3/32" sheets. I recounted and have 15 sheets of the plywood left I also still have the spruce. It measures out to be just over 33 Bd-ft in 14 pieces. (I counted everything 5/8" and thicker as 1 for the bd-ft calculation). if you want the dimensions please send an email or phone #. 4 pcs are 7/8" and vary from 6' 5" - 11' 2" long. Those widths vary from 2" to 5 7/8". Three pcs are 3/8" thick, 8 - 9 ft long, 2 3/8 - 3" wide. The rest are 5/8" thick, 7-10 ft long (two are 6'5" and 4' 8") Widths, ~2" - 6" (3 wide , 4 narrow)

Tom, sorry about the 1/4.

Wayne, I'm hoping to avoid the hassle of shipping, but if it doesn't sell locally soon, I'll call you.

Hi Steve, No worries on the 1/4 plywood. I'm still interested in the spruce. Where are you located in Ohio? I've got to run down to Hamilton later this month with a trailer to pickup a project. You anywhere near there? Thanks, Tom

I'm in the Dayton OH area, about 30-40 min north of Hamilton. Later this month could work.

All, The Sitka spruce has sold. I still have 10 4'x8' sheets of 3/32 mahogany veneer plywood. (9 sheets of "regular" and one sheet where the grain is at a 45 degree angle) (As of 29 June 14)

Hi Steve,
What are you looking to get out of the spruce? Also, what's the thickness of the plywood you have left? I'm still loooking at heading that way on the 28 or 29th. Thanks!

Everyone, The Sitka spruce has been sold. I still have 10 4' x 8' sheets of the 3/32 mahogany veneer (both sides) plywood left, plenty to move along project. On one of those sheets the grain runs at 45 degrees.

Everyone. I still have 10 sheets of the 3/32" plywood left for sale. One sheet is cross-grained. If you bought plans at Oshkosh, this could be a good source of aircraft grade plywood!

All, I'm starting a new thread for the plywood. I'll be dropping this thread. Thanks for following.
