I wonder what paint he used on this. Not a lot of protection from over spray and no fresh air supply. I tried to paint an airplane in a hangar, lets just say that idea was not a welcome one.

I know that airport! I lived in Columbia for 8 years while and after getting my degree from the University of Missouri (go Tigers!). I picked my uncle and his friends up there many times after flying in in his 172 to go to football games.

What a beautiful bird. I would love to see that close up.

After they brought it to Oshkosh a few years ago, John Beattie returned a month later & we did a photo shoot with it, Jim Koepnick doing the clever point & click bits. Hal Bryan came along too, offering advice to Jim on how to really get the best shot, all the while attempting to maintain an air of professionalism over the whole operation. He almost succeeded, despite some less than elegant oohing, aahing & drooling. He has some very cool photos of that trip.

What a great team of passionate enthusiasts they all were. It was a fun afternoon & evening.

Happy days :)

That was so much fun! The drool stains never came out of that shirt, but that was a small price to pay...

Here's a web-piece that we published during Oshkosh:

Thanks Hal. This is the kind of aviation I am looking for. I am drooling over it myself.
