Completed in 2003, the Ultravia Aero International (Canada) Pelican PL is a very well refined design, evolving over 25 years by Jean Rene LePage. Described as a "bush plane in a tuxedo", it can be converted from tricycle to tailwheel and can readily accept floats. With a composite fuselage and metal detachable wings and tail, it is simple and rugged. All reviews in various magazines were outstanding!

350 TTSN with a Stratus EA-81 Subaru engine, the combination has proven to be very smooth, reliable and powerful. Some long cross country flights included RI to OSH over the lakes, and from RI to TX where the airplane is currently located with the original owner and builder. A BRS was installed in the baggage compartment and plenty of room is still available for camping gear and cross country travel accessories.

The panel is complete with a Blue Mountain EFIS Lite, AOA, Navaid single axis auto pilot, Icom radio and transponder and a light panel including Whelen strobes. Electric flaps were added (with a Van's RV unit) and larger Matco wheels, tires and brakes were used. The doors are removable, and skylights and rear windows add to visibility.

The plane was built as a tricycle and flown for the first 5 years before converting to tailwheel to increase skills and fun. It can easily be converted back and forth and can be provided in either configuration to the buyer.

Initially put up for sale for $45K, the price has been dropped to $39,900 in the interest of moving it quicker. A move forces sale or long-term storage. This plane was built to fly not sit so I'd rather sell. It was registered with the specified 1400 lb gross weight but the recommendation of BRS was to placard the gross weight at 1250 (that was the largest BRS available at that time). It climbs solo at 1200 fpm and cruises at 120 mph at less than 5 gph. It is very light on the controls and maneuverable but has a non-event stall and floats in with drooped ailerons and big flaps. Easy to fly and fun to fly.
