Where can I get some nice looking labels for marking the switches/knobs/buttons, etc on an instrument panel?

Aircraft Spruce sells them: http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cspages/panelmarkset.php?clickkey=5719

as does Wicks: http://aircraftproducts.wicksaircraft.com/keyword/?&plpver=10&key=all&keycateg=100&SchType=2&keyword=label&refer=http://www.wicksaircraft.com

Other options include the EAA registration kit (it comes with a sheet of labels) or roll your own (what I plan to do) with a label maker. The ultimate is to screen print them on (they sell kits) but that's more work and money than I want to invest in.

Can you give me an idea of where to buy a screen printing kit?

Try here: http://www.westarsolutions.com/vend/westar/screens.html

Also here's a link ot RV-10 builder Tim Olson's online build log that details what he did:

Brother makes a very nice label printer that connects to your home computer. They sell different color and width tapes. I use the black on clear and white on clear tapes. The software lets you pick the font, font size, etc.

And you can label your tool box drawers, your storage boxes, etc. so in the end it is very cost effective.

Best of luck,

You can also go to your local trophy shop and have them make you custom laminated stick-on labels that won't crack peel or fade. No limit to the colors for the facing or the letters. Just another option.

I've bought stuff from these guys: http://www.moodyaero.com/moody_interior.html
to replaced the required but warn Navion placards.

The last jump plane I was in seemed to have things labeled with a dymo gun. The amusing one was the switch marked PEETOT HEAT

I've had excellent service from Aircraft Engravers, www.engravers.net (http://www.engravers.net) Just about any placard and/or type you can think of.
