I wonder if I can acquire one of these. After all, they are disposing of them...

What's your definition of "bigger?"

The Benson Gyro (X-25A), Bell Helicopter (TH-13M) and Glider (TG-4A) are the only "light" aircraft, that is have an empty wt. < 5000#.

The Huskie and the Aero Commander as well.

My wife says I can put one in the front yard as long as I don't put it in her flower bed.

I'm thinking of the B-52. Or hanging the F-104 from one of the oak trees.

When I was a young 'un, there was a contest in a kids' magazine in which the winner was to receive an F-86 Sabre. Dearly wanted to win that one. Though recall some weasel-words in the ad: "Imagine how you'll fee donating this to your local park...."

Buzz could have some fun times decorating the BUFF for Christmas...."Peace (is our Profession) On Earth".

From the Museum of Aviation Robbins AFB Facebook page: "An F-86H that was used for parts for a restoration, an H-13 helicopter that required an extensive restoration, and a civilian Aero Commander painted up as a USAF U-4 have already been turned in for disposal. The National Museum of the USAF has authorized the museum to scrap the B-52, EC-135, T-39, and GTD-21 drone. The USAF owns the P2V (painted in the markings of a USAF RB-69)."

Yeah, the world is just swimming in D-21 drones. Might as well cut up that very interesting piece of aviation history...

Another interesting/unique aircraft they are doing away with is the RB-57F.

What a shame, waste of our nations aviation history, sure other museums may have examples of these aircraft , but why couldn't they at least see if other museums could take them on rather than just scrap them, I'm sure lots of donated $$$$$ that went to the museum over the years were intended for these aircraft being "saved" not junked , hopefully the AF will have more say in this and try to get them to other museums or set aside until they can be put in them .................................. I was at Warner Robins earlier this year and noticed they had moved some of them and one of the museum people told me this was happening , I thought maybe he didn't get his facts right , but it appears to be true .................................................. .

News like this is so sad. When you see projects like the Sandbar B-25 where people desperately try to preserve every scrap of an old aircraft to get them back in the air. Then you have situations like this were the aircraft are mostly intact and are going to get tuned into soda cans. But I suppose it comes down to the almighty dollar. If scraping these can help save the museum and other rarer types of aircraft... I don't know, its just sad to see more history chopped up.:( Warbirds are meant to be seen and heard. To much of our Country's history is being forgotten to quickly.
