I'm going to fly a Young Eagle this weekend and am not sure what to tell him anymore about what will happen after we mail the form in. Long ago they got a magazine for a year, I think, but I'm not sure now. I know about the Sporty's online course that he can access with the code that I have to give him. Anything else? Thanks.

They get a youth membership in EAA, so they get the online version of Sport Aviation. You can ask for the e-book You Can Afford to Fly at this page http://eaaforums.org/showthread.php?719-Announcement-Free-eBook-for-Young-Eagles-You-Can-Afford-To-Be-A-Pilot

They also get a student membership in he Academy of Model Aeronautics http://www.eaa.org/news/2010/2010-10-19_ye_faqs.asp One of the basic problems with EAA, and almost every web site including mine, is that there's a lot of interest in new and redesigned pages, but the less-interesting work of maintenance often doesn't get done. The youngeagles.org site seems to be suffering from loneliness.

Mike, Once a Young Eagles flight is complete, the young person has access to the Young Eagles Flight Plan with includes Free EAA membership until age 19, Free access to Sporty's Learn to Fly course, A Free Flight lesson, reimbursement for passing the FAA Knowledge exam, flight training scholarships and more. Please check it out at www.youngeagles.org and look around the Flight Plan section.

Thank you very much for your replies and the info. I found out today my potential Young Eagle is actually 18 years old, so we'll have a nice flight Saturday outside the program. No worries.

OK, but you still can fly him under the new EAA Eagle Flight program (http://www.eaa.org/eagleflights/) which covers all adults.

Wow! There's a chapter in Hammond which happens to be where the FBO that one of my customers owns. I need to contact somebody.
