I remember when this first came out in 2001. At first, just story board stills were posted, portrayed it as reporting a real event. (The stills clearly showed "American" on the side of the plane.) My father was a recently retired DC-10 captain for American. I sent them to him saying that I knew they were fake, but HOW do I know for certain they were fake? He sent them on to American's MD-11 Chief Pilot (the DC-10s having recently been removed from service) who responded that the obvious flaw was the numbers on the landing gear doors. These are common to European carriers but not used by U.S. registered carriers.

The full video makes no attempt to portray it as a real event. Twelve years later it is still fun to watch.
