Pilot, by the way, I see you are in Vero Beach, how are things there? Years ago I went to instrument school at Flightsafety there. Ok school, but not excellent and way overpriced; really A plus prices for B- training.
I think their classroom training was probably pretty good, but I had already done the written on my own so only did the flying.My instructor was ex military, and a fine pilot, but not much of a teacher.
He was such a chain smoker that he could barely get through a two hour flight as his hands would start shaking.
Once, coming back from my instrument cross country, he was in such a state that I felt sorry for him and let him smoke. The air from the vent blew the ash off his cigarette and burned a hole in my upholstery. I learned from that.
I also got another CFI who did not have the background but was a better teacher.
