I was just curious about what ever happened to that Alabama Air Guard F-16 that overran 36 last year. How did it leave Wittman?

Do you mean the determination of the cause? http://www.eaa.org/news/2012/2012-02-21_f16.asp

The next day I flew my Navion in (I'd made a short sortie over to New Holstein to ferry tools and a mechanic over to fix a friend's tailwheel there) and as touching down on 36R the controller says:

"I want you to roll straight off the end of the runway............intentionally."

Yeah, I had seen the findings regarding the cause. I was actually just curious as to how the plane made it back home (or to whatever facility it ultimately ended up at). Did they disassemble it and truck it out or bring in a C-5 and load it up, or something else?

Here's a larger report: http://timemilitary.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/022112_acc_-f-16c_aib.pdf

I'm not sure how they got it out. Visions of the horse scene in Animal House dance in my head, but I'm sure it was more technical than that.

But I found this...

Looks like they trucked it out at least for the initial part.

I've seen Cy Galley down in Aircraft Repair pack airplanes into U-Haul trucks so I suspect theres no reason the military couldn't have trucked it or packed it into a cargo plane. I myself hauled my Navion from Winchester, VA to Aurora NE on a flatbed trailer.

It was put on the back of a tractor trailer and hauled off the field. Whether it was then put aboard a cargo plane or something else after leaving Wittman Field, I do not know.
