I think I may have posted something like this on the old Oshkosh365 forum, but since I happened to be listening to some of the shows while shuffling paperwork today, I thought I would post it again.

The Internet Archive, www.archive.org (http://www.archive.org), has a number of original old time radio shows available for free downloading or streaming. Here's a list of some of the aviation programs available:

Captain Midnight: http://archive.org/details/otr_captainmidnight
Hop Harrigan: http://archive.org/details/otr_hopharrigan
Sky King: http://archive.org/details/SkyKing
Air Adventures of Jimmy Allen: http://archive.org/details/AirAdventuresOfJimmyAllen
Ann of the Airlanes: http://archive.org/details/Ann_Of_The_Airlanes
The Dambusters: http://archive.org/details/TheDambusters1954OtrAustralianRadio
Tailspin Tommy: http://archive.org/details/TailspinTommy
Speed Gibson of the International Secret Police: http://archive.org/details/Speed_Gibson_Of_The_International_Secret_Police

I'm sure with some searching you can turn up more. I also really enjoy the X Minus 1 science fiction stories.

Have fun!

Zack

Could this be one of the reasons there seemed to be more interest in aviation amoung the youth in those days?

Hop Harrigan's CX4 is the plane that inspired Dave Thatcher, Pensacola, FL, to name his design the Thatcher CX4.

Listening to the real broadcasts is something I never thought possible - THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!!

I used to listen to Captain Midnight on the radio. It was one of three programs I listened to between 5 and 6:30 pm (or thereabout). One other was Superman, and the third was a cowboy program. I'm not sure, but it may have been Tom Mix.

Yeah.....I'm an old Fogey.
