I was listening to Pilot's Journey podcast tonight when one of the hosts mentioned that he was looking for a B-17 in flight near the Idaho Falls airport. Just for the sake of looking, I pulled up Google Earth and zoomed into the Idaho Falls airport. I spotted the B-24 on the ramp that the host mentioned. He said that the B-17 was suppose to be there but wasn't. He searched for it in flight, but he had not yet found it. I started to zoom off to the southwest of the runway in search of the B-17 in flight. Then I spotted it. Check out 43* 29.2626 N 112* 06.3156 W. I believe that is a B-17 in flight! Google Earth is amazing!

That is a B-17 alright, but what I see on the ramp looks like a B-25.

Yep, definitely a B-25 on the ramp.

My bad! It is a B-25. I also looked to see if I could find out which B-17 was flying and I found this article: http://www.localnews8.com/news/29065498/detail.html

So the B-17 in flight on Google Earth is the Sentimental Journey and not the EAA's Aluminum Overcast. Still, a pretty cool sight!
