Question. Once you have your plane parked at the North 40 and have set up your tent, is it possible to leave for a flight on another day and then return to the same parking spot. Example: fly in on Saturday, camp through Monday, go for a flight on Tuesday, and after the Tuesday flight go back to your original parking spot. I have only seen one or two planes leave and then return in many years of camping at the North 40 so I'm guessing that this is not the norm. Thank you.

We have never done this, but had the possibility of doing it. Of course you have your normal sign, North 40, but also if you put your row on the sign you may be able to pull it off.

I personally know of folks that have done it without issue. IIRC the key is having cockpit signs that tell the marshallers where you want to go upon return. It's not common to do it, but it does happen.

If you leave your tent standing, your tie down present and roping of your site to indicate your intentions to return you should be golden. Upon your return to AirVenture and if the N40 is full up be mindful that Flightline Safety may try to send you to the S40. Their primary focus is to expedite the flow of traffic off the active runways. A short verbal communications with the marshaller should get you moving toward your destination and a second placard, boldly written with your row number displayed will greatly assist in arriving back to your site. The folks working Flightline Safety are all volunteers and for many it is their first year volunteering, guided by a mentor. It's amazing how well everything flows considering all they have are placards and hand signals to move thousands of people and planes each year. Patience, understanding and a smile work wonders.
