Hi, all - I can definitely dig through the archives later for info, but in the interest of a quick answer, I'm starting a new thread.

The aircraft my daughter and I plan to be sharing for the trip to OSH this year is currently in unexpected maintenance and may not be available on our schedule for departure. I'm looking now at a last-minute change from GAC to driving and camping in Scholler, but having never camped there, I'm kinda clueless and have a couple of quick questions:

It looks like I can still purchase tickets for Scholler for arrival on Fri or Sat. Do I need to "rush" to book those NOW as opposed to early in the week when it's certain that the aircraft will not be ready? My understanding is that it's first-come-first-served for spots, but are there limited tickets? I don't want to wait to be certain we have an MX issue and then find there are no Scholler tickets left.
If I never show up to Scholler (because the aircraft *is* ready and we wind up in GAC), can I still get a refund minus the 3-day minimum?
If my daughter and I set up in Scholler and then the aircraft shows up with our friends, can we / should we relocate to GAC? I mean both (a) any issues relocating our equipment, and (b) is there somewhere to move my truck, or will I need to leave it at (and pay for) the GAC spot?

Thanks. I'm sure this info is buried somewhere in the forum, but I'm in a rush and looking to act quickly to reserve a spot if necessary. Nothing worse that promising a 13yo her first OSH and then not having anywhere to stay!

1. You don’t need to buy registration online as all of the Scholler sites are first come first serve. Buying registration online speeds up the check in process but won’t affect your getting a site.
2. Yes. The camping refund policy is the same as aircraft camping.
3. The only issue is going to be finding parking for your vehicle. Unfortunately I don’t have any suggestions there.

Unless there has been a sea change for the Relleumtdats Airventure Campground, 3667 Knapp, which is across Knapp from the Ultra Light Red Barn, has always been a last minute haven for both parking AND camping. Pretty laid back. Nice people. I think they charge $5 a day for parking. Your results may vary.

Thanks, all. We're in a holding pattern while the aircraft is in MX, but I'm getting really close to just pulling the trigger on driving - I hate last-minute changes, and the equipment list will be significantly different if we don't have to worry about W&B.

Out of curiosity, how does arriving at Scholler work? Do you just pull up and register, then drive around to find a spot? Do they direct you toward empty spots on arrival?

Your first inclination is correct. You drive up, register, pay and get your camping credentials then drive around a find a spot. The later you arrive the greater the chance of being towards the West side of grounds and further from the gates.

Well, it's official. A&P had to send out for parts, so we're driving. :( The plan is to arrive early afternoon on Saturday, with luck that'll get us a decent spot. 16 hours each way, but I can bring a heck of a lot more stuff!

Thank you again to Larry and Todd, your answers were short but provided much comfort as things get rearranged. Hope to see y'all there.

Best regards,

daniel
