Favorite airports to stop the night before?

I’m planning on flying all day Friday this year and my plan is to stop an hour or so short of Oshkosh and do the arrival first thing in the morning.

Does anyone have a favorite airport or two that they like to use for this purpose. I would stay In a hotel near the airport.

I was thinking krpj, but there are so many choices. I’m coming from the northeast but not sure that matters much.

I’ve always liked Dubuque coming from the west or south. Especially if you can watch the T-6s come and go from their practice. Don’t know if they do that anymore. It’s a ways into town, but the FBO staff have always arranged transportation. Their gas is expensive, probably will skip it this year.

We have stopped a couple times at KRPJ and it was great. Great restaurant on the field, and the FBO let us use their courtesy car to get to hotel. Easy to skirt Rockford on the east side early in the mornings.

I like 02C (Capitol CIty). Lots of people stage at New Holland (directly across the lake from Osh).

Dodge county airport Wisconsin.
Second this. Great place, people and accommodations. Almost stayed there when I was forced to stop there.
Also, VPZ is great if approaching from the Southeast. Lovely people. I’ll be there Thursday night
