Grounds changes?

Don’t know how to say this any differently.

Any infrastructure changes this year? Different tram routes, now buildings, moved buildings, etc.

They used to offer a webinar on this topic but they haven’t for 2-3 years now. Don’t care to hear about the daily air show performers.

This is all I've found - the 2022 ground's maps. Won't know anything for certain about the Tram routes until our team briefing on July 23rd. Also the AirVenture app is available to download.

I know of a couple of changes:

FYI: If you are a member of the media, and get approved by EAA for AirVenture Oshkosh, the Press Headquarters is in the same location, just northeast of the control tower, but the old air-conditioned house is gone. They will be using a large open-air tent pavilion for the media center, which hopefully will be more efficient in many ways.

The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has announced a year-round permanent location for the Pilot Proficiency Center (PPC). The PPC will be moving to a new spot that is connected to the EAA Aviation Museum for AirVenture 2022. EAA's newly acquired homebuilt aircraft, the Taylor Titch is now on display in the racing gallery at the EAA Aviation Museum.

A new exhibit that opened April 23, 2022 in the EAA Aviation Museum’s Eagle Hangar that honors the late Thomas Hudner Jr., a Korean War naval aviator, with a 1945 Chance Vought F4U-4 Corsair (N6667) that replaced the one Hudner used in his heroic actions that earned him the Medal of Honor. Was on the grounds briefly yesterday, went down to the Blue Barn over to the Chapter Pavilion and didn’t notice any major changes but work inside the fence hasn’t really started to ramp up yet. Did notice that they have taken down alot of the mature trees due to the ash borer blight - too bad. The addition to the museum looks complete but didn’t really check it out. I’ll be attending the next work weekend and ya get a much better feel on how this are going then. It was a spectacular day the only thing missing were the airplanes and the crowd. :thumbsup:

Thanks for the notes, folks. Guess I got spoiled with the flurry of changes several years ago. I understand the pandemic impact ($$$) but still thought progress would continue. Sigh.

One thing, about five years ago when they were doing major changes like the diagonal roads they had a facilities manager who took the time and effort to send an about monthly email on their progress. This got everybody hyped, including me. Great idea, but took some thought and effort on his part. Guess nobody does that kind of communication anymore. They seem to figure if they build it (or even if they don’t), we will come.

YES! That’s what I was expecting. Shoot; even a short message saying no major changes, but, hey, we painted the trash cans to match are area colors. Hmmm…now there’s an idea…

Tram routes still same as last year. Only change there was a stop added at Vintage before the turn onto Vern. Saw that on new map.

The UL field is in the same place this year but driving south you can see the farmers field where the new airfield will be.

Well last year it was briefed that the new strip was a several year project. They also told us that it was not economical to move the barn, so I assume there will eventually be a new structure. At this past work weekend they did brief work is still in progress but gave no completion date. Like everything else it competes for funds, manpower and priority. From the sounds of it, it should be nice once completed.

Did I see an announcement recently from EAA which said the township has voted against the new UL strip?

You would be correct. The township of Nekimi said no, but EAA is still working the issue. There is still the DNR issue but there might be some potential work arounds like shortening the proposed runway length.
