Initial date EAA distributed Volunteer patches

I have patches from almost every EAA convention that I've attended over the years, including patches for volunteering. My earliest "volunteer" patch is from 1982. Does anyone know what year EAA initiated volunteer recognition by sending out patches?

I recall getting them for every year since I started volunteering (1998). They've probably been around longer than that.
