A recent comment I read by a 'former' FAA guy stated that most pilots don't realize that if the FAA inspector doesn't have 'cause' to believe you did something wrong, a pilot can refuse the ramp check.
Anyone tried refusing a ramp check? I wouldn't think a refusal would go over to well, I suspect the inspector would all of a sudden find 'cause' to do the ramp check anyways.
You can refuse if the ramp check will cause an "unreasonable" delay to your schedule. Says so right in the inspectors handbook. Never heard the "probable cause" clause. Don't think that would work.
I did once convince an inspector I didn't need a ramp check, lol. Boy did he get payback on that one.........
