Mystery Engine - Maybe you can identify it?

    Hey Folks

I was at my local welding gas supplier this morning getting some Argon and i noticed something strange in the corner. I went and looked and it was some kind of aircraft engine that has been cut open for maintainer training. I asked the proprietor and he said he bought it from the Canadian Aviation and Space Museum for $50 and he only wanted the steel frame the engine was on. The only information he has on the engine was that it was used by the RCAF at some point.

It looks Continental'ish to me, but I can't find anything on it definitive. I am suspecting it was used for powering something on the ground because of the odd PTO like thing on the rear crankcase. Speaking of the crankcase, it was manufactured by Bohnalite.

    Pictures attached.

    Any ideas?
