Landing gear wheel removal help
Hello all,
I purchased a project and have had a heck of a time trying to get the wheel off the axle of the main landing gear. I’ve removed the bolts and removed the cotter pin that went through the wheel hub and axle. I don’t see a main lug bolt or anything in the center but I can’t get the thing to budge. Any suggestions on what I may be missing? (Image attached) Thanks!

The outer collar on the axle screws off....it's the retaining nut. BTW, before you EVER remove bolts from a wheel assembly, make absolutely sure the tire or tube is completely depressurized. The three bolts you removed from the larger diameter within the wheel body are the ones that hold the wheel halves together.

Great info, thanks Craig!

Can you post a photo of the other side, too? And do you know what make that wheel is? Used to have Goodyears on my Fly Baby, and they took some special tricks to get things separated, depending on whether the brake disk was still meshed.

For s's and g's., I found this video for your consumption on tire inflation failure and the forces that are involved. Granted, these are tires for jets and the pressures are 3 to 10 times higher, but the failures are the same, only slightly different energy levels. Be safe.

I assume you separated the disc from the wheel hub on back side? Matcos usually have 3 screws safety wired to disc that have to come out.
