    Logitech G Pro yoke system

Question for anyone using this flight sim yoke -

    https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Sait...s%2C186&sr=8-2

My computer desk has the keyboard on a sliding tray below the desk surface. There is no room between the two for the clamp system that holds the yoke and throttle quadrant, and mounting it on the sliding tray would not be very practical or functional. Moving the yoke in and out would simply slide the keyboard tray in and out.

Are the clamps 'reversible' so that I could mount the yoke on top of my desk but clamped from above?

thanks in advance for any assistance.

I mounted my yoke to a 1/4 in board painted to match my desk (black). I also mounted the throttle quadrant to the same board. I took screws out of the bottom of the yoke and quadrant replaced them with longer screws. The board goes from the front edge of the desk back to the wall. I put a piece of non-slip shelf liner under the board and set my monitor on it.

Thanks for the response - I went ahead and ordered one an hour ago and will fab 'something' to make this work with my desk situation. I realize Flight Sim X on Steam isn't exactly a Flight School grade Mega realistic cockpit simulator - LOL - but I'm hoping the yoke and throttle quadrant dealie will be an improvement over my current old Saitek Cyborg joystick.

Maybe I can't afford to learn to fly, but that doesn't prevent me from at least having fun in my retirement while pretending.

Good news - the package arrived three days ago and like EVERYTHING that I allow into my house was immediately wiped down with bleach disinfectant solution and put into my Coronavirus package and mail 72 hour quarantine zone. (Yes everything, groceries too. lol

So.. I just now finished assembling it. Turns out that all I had to do to mount it to my computer desk sliding keyboard tray was unscrew the tray, reverse it and screw the tray back on. Just four screws held it to the drawer rails. This extended the tray a few more inches out from the desk so now the clamps fit just fine, it is snug as a bug in a rug and the keyboard tray does not move in and out when I use the yoke - YAY! Score one for the retired geezer. Take that, technology! lol

Flight Sim X recognized the Saitek yoke as soon as I plugged it into my desktop PC's USB port - couldn't be an easier fool-proof process.

I've only done a couple very brief test takeoffs from Midway Airport so far. Initially there was considerable 'lag' between yoke input and the screen movement, so I adjusted the sim settings to max sensitivity and Voila! The lag is gone. My inputs just about match what I see on the screen to a "T".

Having this 'real life sized' (kinda) yoke and quadrant vs my former Cyborg joystick upgrades my flight sim experience in an instant quantum leap. I just know I'm gonna luv it! The only 'downside' I can see is that NOW I want a 36" or larger monitor - oh, and maybe rudder pedals? LOL

The dangerous combination of a few extra bucks at the end of a month (since all the casinos are closed-lol), and MY total lack of willpower, fiscal responsibility and patience has been keeping this economy fueled for decades. lol

The new flight sim gear wasn't set up for even 72 hours before I was on Amazon buying a 32" curved gaming monitor to replace my 23" flat screen- LOL It should arrive in a week or so. I will post a new pic when it arrives...……. my newly purchased Video graphics card to upgrade my older Dell 3847 Windows 10 desktop arrives Sunday to take advantage of the new monitor's capabilities. It looks to be an easy, quick DIY install project.

In case you wondered, when I was married - NO, I in fact NEVER questioned why my wife's new hairdo simply required her to buy new clothes, shoes and purses to match it. I completely understand and support that buying thought processes.

Have you kept your old joystick so you can fly Airbus' products and use the yoke for Boeing'? The missing airfield in FSX that the mayor of Chicago bulldozed in the night was the default for FSX. Here in Austin, the missing airfield is Mueller where the Thinkery has sprouted to replace the downtown Children's museum. I only mention this because my grandson has told me he wants to move on from his rig for Forza and using my FIRE tablet with his older sister as an accelerometer sensed "yoke and wheel" with other controls as touchables. (He is 10 now.)

Have I kept my Cyborg Joystick? Let me put it this way. Right now, somewhere in the glass door china cabinet, in one of its drawers or cupboards, not 10 feet from my PC desk, is a box or two of 3-1/2" "floppy" disks containing god knows what. -lol
