    Fokker DR-1 Design

Anybody have experience with the Ron Sands DR-1 kit? Seems odd the spar would have issues?

How about telling us what you think the problem is, instead of making us waste our time watching someone else's video?

Bend radius for the 4th wing spar is not to spec (too tight) for the thickness of the sheet material called out in the plans.

... and somehow this gets over-dramatized into an overly long video.

Followers of PlaneSavers - they saved a great Canadian WWII DC-3 over the winter and brought it to Oshkosh this year - realize this a fun youtube series led endeavor. This time they are 'resurrecting' a DR-1 replica and will be posting numerous short vids of their progress.

It is not intended as some sort of 'technical' treatise on aircraft materials. lol

For more information about both various plans and actual plans from Fokker than you thought was possible...

The folks on the forum are experts and builders of WWI replicas (and representations like mine), and are friendly and helpful.
The opinions and statements of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

Sorry, didn't mean to waste your time. Seems like they ran into some more trouble with the spar and the amount of time it would take to build. Sounds like Chuck Wentworth has done one before.

Ron Sands Jr donated an updated set of planes. Pretty cool! And now they have a Fox Moth project.
