    P-51 coolant

Curiosity question - what type of liquid coolant is used in P-51 ? Prestone and water maybe !

Yes, I think most people use Prestone and mix around 50-50 with water, which needs to be clean as drinking water but doesn't have to be distilled. Texaco makes a special antifreeze coolant for Saturn cars which have aluminum blocks and heads, and this coolant is better than Prestone, in theory as the Merlin is mostly aluminum also.

Walmart of all places makes an excellent coolant for aluminium.

I don't know anything about P-51s but the company that rebuilt my Northstar engine warranties it for 100 000 miles as long as the above coolant is used and changed every 3 years.

Idoubt if Walmart makes their own coolant , probably made for them by Texaco or someone else. May work the same.
Saturn coolant made by Texaco, GM 1825-M and part number 12378560
