    Lenticular and mountain wave; no flying today!

    Here is a monster mountain wave on the east side of the Sangre de Christo mountains in centeral Colorado. Was going to fly this morning but decided not to in my LSA RV-12 because of the turbulence likely in this mess. Enjoy.Name:  DSC03144.jpg

    it looks like a good day flying as long as you stay out of the higher altitudes where the wave is. am i missing something here. is it unsafe to fly around at 3,000' agl? Name:  img4418bu.jpg

    The glider guys will probably tell you that you are just flying the wrong kind of airplane for the conditions. For them, strong mountain wave = serious altitude. They'll put up with a bumpy ride on the way in and out.

    Nah...I't just takes me too long to get that high.....
