    Grumman maintenance

I am looking at buying a Grumman Yankee for my first airplane. Most people tell me that it is a great airplane except for the short field capabilities, but a few are scaring me off by telling me how expensive it is going to be to maintain it, compared to something else. I have found out that the jugs on an O-235 are significantly more expensive than other motors. Is EVERYTHING going to be more expensive. I dont want to get into something that is going to drain me financially. The airplane I am looking at has 1700 hrs and is in great shape. I would appreciate your opinion.

I don't know anything about Grummans but, with all airplane purchases, have an A & P whom you trust, give it a good prebuy inspection before you even think about buying it. I didn't, and it took me five years to get the airplane in flying condition....
