Decatur, IL - Main Hangar Restaurant closing

Just wanted to share the sad news, the Main Hangar Restaurant at the Decatur IL airport is closing at the end of the month. I know it is a popular $100 weekend brunch destination.

Maybe we should meet for a lunch/dinner before said closing?

We ate there on the 11th, I wanted to get in there again before they closed but I am booked solid with Fathers Day yesterday & we have a dinner at Church next Sunday, and multiple summer high school sports commitments. They aren't open for breakfast during the week, but the weekend brunch is pretty good & the normal lunch & dinner menu is good also. We usually ate there after church a couple times a month & there were always several fly in customers.

If the place is that good and that popular, maybe it will re-open under new management.

That is the hope. When the park district (who owns the airport) was running it they were losing money, but the current owners are making a profit. They decided not to renew the lease because the parents want to retire & the daughter & her husband want to be able to spend more family time with their kids.
