    First flight of Stewart Headwind N96DR

    May 23, 2017 she took to the skies after a 2 year build. Empty weight of 498.6 pounds. Scratch built from plans. Hummel 1915cc engine rated at 65hp. A Tennessee Propeller provides the thrust. Cruises at 80MPH.

    Just saw this thread. Belated congratulations!

    Flight report, now that you (hopefully) have some hours on her? I'm particularly interested in how it flies with your direct drive motor.

    43 hours on her at this point. Just about to exit phase one program. Pure joy to fly "low and slow". Cruise at 2800RPM is 85MPH. Lands around 40-45MPH. I see 500+FPM climb at 65MPH. VERY well behaved airplane. 2 others have flown her and remark the same thing.
    Weather permitting I'll have her at OSH this year. Wednesday the 26th at 1PM I'll do a "Hombuilts on Review" in front of the Homebuilders Hangar on her.
