TV Series set in WWI Royal Flying Corps

Aviation nut as I am, I'm surprised I hadn't heard of this before. In the 1970s, the BBC had a TV series set in the British Royal Flying Corps during WWI, named "Wings." They used a combination of full-scale and 1/3 scale WWI airplanes. It starts in 1915, when the British and German aviators fired rifles at each other, and shows some of the evolution involved in early air combat.

The whole series is up on Youtube:

Just finished binge-watching the first season and have started on the second...am enjoying it quite a bit. Kind of a combination of "Upstairs Downstairs" and "The Blue Max."

One of my discoveries after the original posting. Tim Woodward stars in the series, as a young lower-class man who manages to join the RFC as a sergeant-pilot, and manages to both stay alive and gain a commission.

As I was watching the series, I *knew* he was familiar.

He starred in ANOTHER air combat series that more of you are familiar with: "Piece of Cake." He was Squadron Leader Rex, the boss!

    Ron:

Is Piece of Cake available on Netflix or You Tube?

    Thanks.

No need to respond. I found it on YouTube.
