There are two very historic days that fall this week:

March 5, 1936 first flight of the very first Spitfire prototype by Mutt Summers at Supermarine, Eastleigh Airport, Southampton.

March 6, 1836, Fall of the Alamo after 183 Texans held off Gen. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and an army of up to 5000 for 13 days at an old mission in San Antonio turned into a fort.
Santa Anna won this battle, but he left about 1500 of his men there. Of the first battalion of Mexican forces in the attack, Gen Cos said , "We brought 800 of the finest cavalry in the world to the Alamo and we left 660 of them dead on the ground."
