    Icom to portable intercom adapter

I have an Icom A24 and will be picking up a Sigtronics SPO-22 portable intercom soon. Is there an adapter that doesn't have the PTT built in? Since The intercom has one it is not needed and I would like to avoid any unneeded cable clutter.

I needed a patch cord for my Icom and look all over for one and could not find it anywhere. I knew they made this cord for I owned one, but could not find it. I finally e-mailed Icom. They told me they make these to order. In a few days I had my new cord in the mail. Try calling Icom.

If you are looking for the ~2.5 mm dia plug on the end of about a 5 ft cord, and just plain tinned wires at the other end, PM me. I have three left over from my ICom conversion project. I used one with a RST intercom. That plug isn't otherwise available.

Basically I'm looking for this adapter but without the PTT lead. If they only come like this though then it is no big deal.

This might work, are the jacks the same on different brand radios?

Not necessarily. They may use the same size jacks/plugs, but they're not always wired the same, at least in the ham radio world (where Icom and Vertex/Yaesu are big and jacks are not completely compatible), and though I've not checked it out, I suspect the same here in aviation. I do know that the Icom IC A-21 (old aviation unit) uses the same as the Icom ham units. I'm only talking about the handhelds with the smaller jacks, not something with the 1/4" plugs (for receive) and the 3/16" plugs for transmit, though, as I don't know about those (if there still are any), but I think they're pretty standardized, just like the panel mounts using those sizes.

For what it's worth, this was the plug connectivity on my Icom ICA5:
