Installing Solid Works with Windows 10

When I initially tried installing SolidWorks on Windows 10, the installer quit very early (only 1% complete) with an error message that installation of Microsoft components failed. What I found out is that Windows 10 already has those components installed, so when you get those error messages from the SolidWorks installer just skip to next step and SolidWorks will install (and work properly). I think I received three error messages. Hope this helps others trying install on Windows 10.

I got it to work on a Windows 10 machine as well--but I never saw the error at 1% as I recall. SOLIDWORKS will complain a lot about not having an NVIDIA Quadro card, but it will work without it. I have a license a higher level of SOLIDWORKS on a Windows 7 machine, and have a Quadro card installed in that. I can't really compare the two because the Student version doesn't have the same photorealistic rendering engine as the Professional version does, so it's apples-to-oranges in that sense.
