Thread: Precautions when draining fuel from my aircraft

    Hmmm, I "bonded" my aircraft to the can when I drained my fuel tank without realizing it - the metal can was touching both fuselage and the ground before I opened the drain.

    One day I came down to HEF and they were refilling the fuel tuck. There was a thunderstorm rolling over the field and in addition to the fuel falling in the truck and lack of bonding, the guy was standing on top of the truck. About the only thing he could have done worse is to hold a golf club over his head with one hand while smoking a cigarette with the other.
