Three aspiring aviation students will receive $1,000 next week, thanks to South County Airport Pilots Association (SCAPA). Last night, at the board meeting of SCAPA (a 501(c)(3) dedicated to aviation and local airport preservation), we reviewed 11 scholarship applicants and selected the lucky three. The checks will be handed out next Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at our monthly dinner meeting.

p.s.
On Saturday, May 14, 2016, SCAPA will be working with Wings of History Air Museum and EAA chapter 62 at the annual San Martin Airport (E16) Open House. I have signed up to give Young Eagles rides in my mighty Cessna C-150. This will be the first such event since the new EAA Youth Protection Policy, which took effect six days ago.
This event typically gives more than 200 rides. To my understanding, no kid/parent who has shown up during the specified hours has been turned away. WE SHALL SEE HOW IT GOES THIS YEAR.
I will report back.
