    EAA Welding Class

    Hi all,

I am signed up for the gas welding class in Houston next month. For anyone who has been to this, what do I need to take with me, equipment wise? I assume they will have metal, torches, gases, etc. How about clothing? Do I need to bring my own gloves, goggles, some sort of welding shirt or apron? Any value in bringing my own torch?

    Thanks,

Take some soft leather work gloves like deerskin, if you need reading glasses you will need STRONGER ones to weld. My reading prescription is 1.5 I use 2.5 in my welding goggles (shade 5 filter).

I wore jeans, t shirt, & a denim work shirt, but you shouldn't get anything spattering like you do with an arc welder.

They will have aircraft torches for you to use.

I attended the welding class last weekend. Really well done. I started from zero previous welding experience and finished up making pretty nice welds. Obiously, the key is lots of practice. The instructor was first rate. Good job, EAA
