    POR 15 Corrosion protection

    Ahoy, Builders,

I see that the corrosion protective 'primer' POR15 or POR 15 is not recently mentioned here.

On rusty or properly prepared steel, it is remarkably effective.

    Example:

I have a sheet metal roller, probably older than me (EAA 8444) outside in the weather. I brushed-on POR15 ~~ five years ago, use it from time to time, and it is still rust free.

Used on my motor home, same result.

    Enjoy /s/ Bob

Back in 1995 I sandblasted the frame of my 66 F250, primed it with POR15 silver & painted it with their Chassis Black. Then I got laid off & had to move for another job. The frame is still sitting in my parent's side yard with not a spot of rust on it anywhere. One of these days I might get back to that project, but other things keep taking priority.

The bottom of the doors on my 2000 F350 crew cab are rusting from water getting inside the doors, this summer I am going to wire brush them inside & out, use POR15 metal prep on them & the same silver primer & chassis black top coat. (The bottom 1/3 of the truck is black anyway) The truck only has 116,000 on it, that Powerstroke is just getting broke in.
