    A fast and unusual German

The link below provides a full report and pictures of one of the fastest aircraft of its class, but never went into production. We are talking about the Heinkel He 119. If it had been produced and participated in WW2 its performance would have changed in some way the course of the war? What do you think? Click on the link below and take your own conclusions.

Fast mail plane. Could have been useful as a reconnaissance aircraft. Not enough bomb-load to be effective.

The problem is that the Germans had a lot of good and interesting designs. The resources expended on developing and then modifying them to meet political whims diverted production from concentrating on a few, truly useful designs. Even then, an emphasis on production of a potentially useful 4 engine bomber, like the HE-177 or (if they could have worked out the wing loading problem) the Me 264 would have still been a waste of resources without air superiority over the factories, home airfields, and target areas.
