    1983 Rutan Quickie Q1

1983 Rutan Quickie Q1 with an 18 HP Onan Engine. Airplane is complete with 17 hours total time and 7 hours of flight time. Built by David Reed of Newfoundland, the aircraft has been stored inside it's whole life and was on display at the North Atlantic Aviation Museum at one point. Now located in Ottawa, it has new tires, throttle and mixture cables and is ready to be fired up again. Airframe and engine logs along with the owners manual are included. Well built and in great shape ready for a new home.

    LSA.?

Very neat airplane. I am assuming it is too fast to be considered an LSA? What is your asking price?

Looks great but "ready to be fired up again" makes me wonder what condition the engine is in. That's a nice price for a flying aircraft, less interesting for one with an engine that's not running.

The engine has been fogged and stored, I cleaned up the wiring and once it is out of the showroom it is sitting in, it can be started. Should have a new plug and wires but overall it is in great shape.

According to the published specs, a Quickie Q1 with the original 18 hp engine is well within LSA limits for stall speed, maximum speed, gross weight, etc. I wonder about the firewall-forward weight of the Onan installation? A modern industrial V-twin, perhaps with a redrive, might work well for the Quickie and provide a substantial increase in horsepower.

I have seen a few with 503 Rotax and they seem to work very well.
