    ADS B in/out

How is the requirement for ADS B in/out going to affect EAB builders? Most of us performed our own wiring when building, will this be allowed when we want to install ADS B equipment? Will we only have to have the equipment certified after installation or will the equipment have to be installed by certified shops? After reading several articles on ADS B in the EAA and AOPA mags, I have not seen this addressed. Any current and pertinent info would be appreciated.

Short answer - after you install ads-b in an experimental aircraft, it has to work correctly.

ADS-B In has no requirements, nor are you required to use it. Do what you wish with it. ADS-B Out for E-AB aircraft will not require TSO equipment or a radio shop for installation. Whether you use 1090-ES or UAT, as long as it meets the performance standards of the TSO, then is OK in an E-AB aircraft.

A number of the units currently available don't meet the performance standards, so be careful about what you buy.
